In many industry sectors, extruders are often-used system types for shaping materials or physically modifying them. For the precise additional dosing of various liquids/emulsions, nozzles/valves are often used which enable small dosing quantities with reproducibly accurate addition. Liquid/viscous materials are introduced through the nozzle in a (dis) continuous process. The bore of the nozzle and the available liquid differential pressure determine the dosing quantity to be introduced.

In addition to the basic extruder versions, which only have one shaft and are used for material transport, two-shaft or even multi-shaft versions are used in particular for processing purposes (mixing, chemical or physical modification of the added components, degassing, etc.).
